It has been about 30 years since I initially became involved in photography with the Craigmillar Festival Society through a Youth Programme, taking photographs of the local area and local events for the Society's community newspaper.
This developed an interest in photography with a strong community narrative, trying to develop an idea, place, people and show the story around those themes.
My main photographic influences are Burt Glinn, Peter Marlow, Richard Billingham, Sophie Reistenheuber, Arthur Tress, Bill Burke and Hans Aarsman amongst others.
Currently I'm involved with two linked organisations in Darlington: The Darlington Media Group and photoNorth.
I do enjoy taking less narrative driven photographs - landscapes, flowers and such - but this site isn't the place for those. They can be found at Earth Sky Sun.
