Do you have a mentor? Tell us about him or her. Are you a mentor to someone else? Tell us what that relationship has added to your life.
These make it very difficult for me to get much out of mentoring, I’ve worked many a job where the informal aspect of mentoring falls down as I don’t really do informal if I’m in a working position. I want the information about how to get a job done and get it done efficiently.
Though in my latest job it has been easier for me to accept mentoring as the two people who’ve trained me on the job were friends before I started there.
Ste especially is such a warm, gentle, and genuine person, it would be difficult to have issues with him at all, he’s been in the job we do for about 14 years and knows all the ins and outs and ways to do the job most effectively.
I’ve also had some people I classed as mentors in my artistic practice over the years, Richard and Rose especially who helped me believe in myself more than anything.
I never know whether or not I’m a mentor, not in an official capacity anyway, but have been told on numerous occasions that I’ve really helped people get to grips with various jobs.
